About
Rafael Bergamaschi is a Brazilian filmmaker whose work focuses on unveiling the richness of cultural identity through intimate storytelling. Drawing from Cinéma Vérité's tradition, he has been shaping his documentary practice for over 13 years.
His short film "Avalanche Bob", about the yodeling-punk pioneer Robert Cribbie, premiered at Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival and screened at DOC NYC. His first film, the medium-length “Liturgy of Pleasure”, was praised for its intimate portrait of the BDSM community of São Paulo, Brazil. His editing credits include films that have been featured at major festivals such as Sundance and Berlinale, as well as HBO productions Tu Me Manques and Revolution Rent.
Rafael holds a Journalism degree from Faculdade Cásper Líbero, in São Paulo, and completed graduate studies in Documentary Film at The New School, in New York.
